Micro:bit Application Basics (STEM Instructor Certificate Course)

Micro:bit is a very popular micro-processor board, specially designed for primary and secondary school students to learn programming. Its easy-to-use and highly scalable features have led many Hong Kong primary and secondary schools to compete in the school curriculum to promote learning about programming and STEM education. Recently, some schools have even included micro:bit in the book list as one of the necessary STEM learning programming tools.

This course is designed for those who are new to micro:bit and intend to become a STEM instructor. Through 8 lessons (a total of 16 hours) of teaching activities, adults will master all the required skills and focus of micro:bit to integrate micro:bit courses into their teaching, so as to train their students' problem-solving and logical reasoning ability, stimulate creative thinking, and cultivate their interest in learning STEM.

After completing the course, students can master:

  • Micro:bit basic knowledge and programming

  • Micro:bit basic electronic knowledge

  • Micro:bit IoT application and invention production

  • Experience, analysis, and comparison of different STEM teaching materials

  • Design and evaluation of STEM learning activities

Course Features
  • It allows you to use the popular micro:bit micro-prosessor as a foundation to master core knowledge in 16 hours, including basic programming, electronic knowledge, and Internet of Things knowledge. In the classroom, students aim at making inventions and apply them immediately after they learn different areas of knowledge.

  • This course focuses on concept, consolidates the basic knowledge of students, never teaches hard knowledge. When there are new STEM teaching products in the future, they can make an analogy and have the ability to learn independently.

  • Students who have completed the course can intern in the institution’s on-campus courses.
