4. micro:bit Smart Home

Workshop content: The theme of the smart home is to inspire students' ideas and apply technology to improve human life and save energy.

The workshop will focus on the application of students' programming logic, and use different modules to build their own ideal smart home model. Smart homes are divided into 5 categories, including automation, security, entertainment, personal wellness, and energy management.

2. micro:bit Smart Plant

In the age of advanced technology, have you ever thought about taking the plants in your home and adding STEM technology elements to bring another life?

The instructor will explain the basic plant growth elements and principles, teach micro:bit simple programming and electronic modules, make automated functions (automatically turn on plant lights, automatic watering, temperature control, and humidity control), and become a smart planter with your smart plant!

5. Smart Treasure Box

What is "Internet of Things" (IoT)? If you want to know more, you can learn by setting up your own "smart treasure box reminder system".

Students will experience DIY cloud and data uploading services by making a simple smart treasure box with one or two sensors. For example: When your treasure box is opened by someone, the "Smart treasure box reminder system" will automatically send email and SMS notifications. Students can learn the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) and IFTTT application through the workshop.

3. Robot problem-solving

Robots are one of the important sources of labor in future society. This workshop will introduce students to robot's contribution to the society and how they solve different problems.

Students will put together different wooden board modules, and learn programming and the main electronic parts of the robot, including steering gear and motor. Finally, they will use the robotic arm to complete simple tasks. Through this activity, students are guided to think about how to solve problems in real life.

6. Artificial Intelligence

What is artificial intelligence? This term has recently appeared in different places.

This workshop briefly introduces the concept of "artificial intelligence" to participants through daily life application examples and how to apply it in different places. Tutors will use artificial intelligence accessories such as cameras and voice modules to teach mobile phone applications, perform "portrait recognition" and "picture recognition", so that students can experience and take the first step in learning artifical intelligence.
